Rental terms and conditions
These conditions govern the rental of motorcycles, bicycles and electric scooters offered by Amorerental S.L. (tax ID B75554667). Use is limited to the island of Mallorca and to paved roads.
Requirements to rent
You must present a passport or ID card, a credit card for the security deposit, and, for scooters, a driving licence valid in Spain (A, A1, A2, B or an international licence; outside the EU an International Driving Permit is also required). For scooters we require previous riding experience, a minimum age of 21 with at least 3 years' seniority on a car licence, or a specific 125cc licence. The customer is responsible for holding the appropriate licence and experience; if they do not, no refund applies.
Passengers: minimum age 12. Maximum capacity: 2 people on a scooter, 1 person on an electric scooter. From 2027, gloves will be mandatory on scooters.
Insurance and deposits
Third-party and passenger liability insurance is always included in the price. In addition:
- Scooters: no liability reduction, €400 deposit; basic liability reduction, €200; full liability reduction, €0. None cover theft or personal injury (theft replacement value: €3,900, VAT not included).
- Bikes and e-scooters: base deposit of €100 (electric) or €50 (non-electric). Damage insurance (€5/day) covers damage to the bike or scooter and reduces the deposit to €0. Rescue insurance (a flat €25 per bike and rental) is independent: it does not reduce the deposit or cover damage, and if you get a puncture or any other problem we will come and get you or replace the vehicle; you can take both at once and they add up. Without rescue insurance you are responsible for returning the vehicle at the agreed time; if we have to come and get you, you will be given a quote depending on where you are. Neither covers theft or personal injury (theft replacement value by model: Steppenwolf Transterra Sport €2,999, ADO Air 28 €899, eMotorrad Plymouth €799, Moma 28 Pro €999, Moma Trekking 28 €299, ZWheel Z Cougar €799, ZWheel Zfox Max €699, VAT not included).
- Premium bikes (Steppenwolf Transterra Sport): €300 deposit. Damage insurance (€24 per rental) covers all damage to the bike and reduces the deposit to €0; rescue insurance (a flat €25 per rental) works as for the other bikes, and you can take both at once and they add up. Neither covers theft or personal injury. If a booking mixes premium and standard bikes, each type has its own insurance and its own deposit: they are chosen separately for each type and the contract states which ones were taken for each bike.
Reductions do not apply in cases of intentional, reckless or negligent use, or use under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Deposits are returned within 1 to 15 days after the contract ends, provided there is no damage or pending charges.
What each insurance covers
Third-party and passenger liability is always included and is not one of the options you choose. What you choose when booking is a liability reduction for damage to the vehicle itself, which determines how much deposit is held and how much you would pay if you damage it. This is how each option works:
No insurance covers theft (the replacement value is stated in "Insurance and deposits"), personal injury or fines. They also do not cover damage caused by intentional, reckless or negligent use, or use under the influence of alcohol or drugs, for which you are liable for the full cost. The deposit does not limit your actual liability: if the damage exceeds it, you pay the difference.
- Scooters, No liability reduction (no cost): The €400 deposit stays fully at your risk if the vehicle is damaged. Doesn't cover theft or personal injury.
- Scooters, Basic liability reduction (€24 per rental): The deposit drops from €400 to €200, and your liability for vehicle damage is capped at that €200 — for example, if the repair cost €1,000, you'd only pay up to €200. Doesn't cover theft or personal injury.
- Scooters, Full liability reduction (€39 per rental): The deposit drops from €400 to €0 and all vehicle damage is covered. Doesn't cover theft or personal injury.
- Bikes and e-scooters, No insurance (no cost): The €100 deposit isn't reduced and no damage is covered — the full deposit stays at your risk if the bike or scooter is damaged. Doesn't cover theft or personal injury.
- Bikes and e-scooters, Damage insurance (€5 per day): Covers any damage the bike or scooter may suffer during the rental, and the deposit drops from €100 to €0. Doesn't cover theft or personal injury.
- Bikes and e-scooters, Rescue insurance (flat €25 per bike and rental): If you get a puncture or any other problem with the bike or scooter, we will come and get you or replace it. It does not reduce the deposit or cover damage: you can combine it with the damage insurance. Without this insurance, you are responsible for returning the vehicle at the agreed time; if we have to come and get you, you will be given a quote depending on where you are. It does not cover theft or personal injury.
- Premium bikes, No insurance (no cost): The €300 deposit isn't reduced and no damage is covered — the full deposit stays at your risk if the bike is damaged. Doesn't cover theft or personal injury.
- Premium bikes, Damage insurance (€24 per rental): Covers all damage the bike may suffer during the rental, and the deposit drops from €300 to €0. Doesn't cover theft or personal injury.
- Premium bikes, Rescue insurance (flat €25 per rental): Same as for the other bikes: if you get a puncture or a problem, we will come and get you or replace the bike. It does not reduce the deposit or cover damage; you can combine it with the damage insurance.
- Hypershell X exoskeleton, No insurance: The €400 deposit isn't reduced and no damage is covered — the full deposit stays at your risk if the exoskeleton is damaged. Doesn't cover theft or personal injury.
- Hypershell X exoskeleton, Damage insurance: Covers any damage the exoskeleton may suffer during the rental, and the deposit drops from €400 to €0. Doesn't cover theft or personal injury.
Fuel and cleaning (scooters)
The vehicle is handed over and must be returned with a full tank (a fuel station receipt is required as proof). If not: estimated refuelling cost (minimum €5) + €10 service fee. Extra cleaning: €50. Two approved helmets are provided and must be returned in the same condition.
Schedules, delays and cancellations
There is a 30-minute grace period on return; after that, an extra day's rental plus a €50 penalty applies per day of delay. Cancelling 48h or more in advance entitles you to a refund minus a 10% admin fee; less than 48h in advance, or a no-show, means no refund. Early return of the vehicle does not entitle you to a refund for the unused period.
Permitted use and mileage
Only the contract holder may drive the vehicle. Mileage is unlimited under normal use; a €0.20/km surcharge applies only if abusive use or paid transport is detected beyond set limits. Paid transport, racing, unpaved roads, and taking the vehicle off Mallorca are all prohibited.
Entering restricted-traffic zones with the vehicle is prohibited (the old towns of Alcúdia and Pollença, Caseta dels Capellans, the Puerto de Pollença–Formentor climb during restricted hours, and the Formentor lighthouse road beyond the barrier), which are monitored by the authorities' cameras. If the authorities notify us of a penalty for entering any of them during your rental, we will pass on to you the amount of the penalty, a €30 handling fee and €200 for breaching this condition, which may be deducted from the deposit.
Breakdowns, accidents and fines
24h roadside assistance is free for mechanical breakdowns not caused by the customer. In an accident where a third party is at fault, the customer must record the other party's details and sign the friendly accident report; the deposit is held until the insurer verifies the details. Traffic or parking fines are charged to the customer, plus a €30 handling fee. In case of theft, you must report it to the police immediately and notify us, handing over the police report and the keys. Since the insurance does not cover theft, you must pay the vehicle's replacement value: €3,900 per motorcycle and, by model: Steppenwolf Transterra Sport €2,999, ADO Air 28 €899, eMotorrad Plymouth €799, Moma 28 Pro €999, Moma Trekking 28 €299, ZWheel Z Cougar €799, ZWheel Zfox Max €699. These amounts do not include VAT.
